Surrealism: An idea being strange,
not seeming real, beyond or hidden from
 reality, similar to a dream

This portrait painting called The Persistence of Memory who was painted by Salvador Dali is one of the most recognised work on the theme of surrealism, He uses melted clocks to display the idea of special relativity that was discovered by Albert Einstein at the time, which tells us that time distorts depending on our perspective to an object in spacetime or how fast we are travelling. The watch on the bottom left has ants all over it which could show decay, overall the whole picture has interpretations to a dream-like setting.

Contact Sheet- Set 1

I build setups and then used light sources to cast shadows onto the walls, the result is images that have a dream-like feel that appears unreal. I played around with the aperture to find the best setting in aperture priority mode, which provides the best lighting for the images, I chose 3 of the best shots in this set which is below.

Big COVID
This image taken by me displays a hidden figure wearing a face mask who appears to be applying some kind of force or manipulation to the miniature tower of big ben, perhaps this could symbolise a higher figure protecting a city or it could symbolise a force that's about to control and damage the miniature city. The shadows could also hint the idea that the higher figure is hidden literally in the shadows and won't be detected. As seen in the news perhaps this could symbolise a person with COVID who's about to completely manipulate the lives of the people in that city. The clock hidden under 'big ben' is an unconscious symbol of the relativity of space and time distorting as reality shifts. This all links to the dream-like feel of the image.

The Blitz Ben

This image taken by me hammers in a miniature section of the big ben tower with mini-figures/humans cluttered onto the side, they appear to be harmless from the initial thought, Until you view the shadows. The shadows display a large ominous nature of big ben which foreshadows the centre of the target during the blitz during ww2, There's a figure who's disorientated as he leans next to the tower, two army soldiers appear to be aiming their rifles at this figure, another figure also hangs from the clock of big ben. Perhaps this could symbolise how the hanging figure wants the war to end as well as the disorientated figure, they want time to distort and dilate.
